RETURN & RISE: A $25 MILLION CAMPAIGN FOR INDIGENOUS FUTURES

Return & Rise: A $25 Million Campaign for Indigenous Futures

Land Back. Climate Justice. Regenerative Enterprise. Policy Power.

We stand at a historic crossroads. Across the Pacific Northwest and beyond, Indigenous lands and waters are under assault from extractive industries, data centers, and climate chaos. Yet within Indigenous stewardship lies the blueprint for ecological balance, cultural survival, and collective liberation.

Indigenous Just Transition (IJT) is launching a once-in-generation $25 million Capital Campaign to return land to Indigenous care, build a climate safe sanctuary, retreat and governance center, seed an Indigenous-led legislative and policy lab, and create a regenerative social enterprise that will sustain this work for generations.

This is campaign is an invitation to restore what was taken and build what’s next.

Our Vision: Restoring Land, Power, and Futures

For centuries, wealth and power have been extracted from Indigenous lands to build the global economy. Today, we are reclaiming that story.

Indigenous Just Transition is an Indigenous-led environmental and climate justice organization building the infrastructure, physical, political, and economic, for a future beyond extraction.

  • Return land to Indigenous stewardship and restore ecosystems.

  • Build a regenerative campus that centers healing, ceremony, leadership, and intergenerational governance.

  • Power a policy and legislative lab to transform the laws that shape our communities and lands.

  • Seed a regenerative enterprise that funds our work long-term.

  • Regrant resources to grassroots movements leading the just transition on the ground.

This campaign is our blueprint for transformation; rooted in land, guided by community, and built to last.

“This campaign is about returning sovereignty, regenerating ecosystems, and building a future beyond extraction.”-IJT

CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW

The $25 Million Return & Rise Campaign: Building a Foundation for Generations

Our Return & Rise campaign is designed to create lasting impact across six interconnected pillars; each essential to a just, regenerative future.

LAND BACK & STEWARDSHIP

Returning What Was Taken

At the heart of this campaign is the return of land, the original source of sovereignty, knowledge, and balance.

The Land Back & Stewardship Fund will acquire and protect ancestral lands in strategic regions of the Pacific Northwest, placing them under Indigenous governance and care. These lands will become living classrooms for ecological restoration, cultural revitalization, and intergenerational healing.

Every acre returned is rights honored, biodiversity restored, and futures reclaimed.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT & CAMPUS

A Climate-Safe Campus for Healing, Strategy, and Leadership

On this land, we will build a climate-safe, resilience building, net-zero campus that embodies Indigenous values of relationship and regeneration.

  • A Ceremonial and Cultural Hall for gatherings, teachings, and movement-building.

  • A Leadership and Policy Pavilion for training, legislative strategy, and governance convenings.

  • Community housing for elders, youth, and visiting partners.

  • Healing gardens and First Foods spaces for ceremony, nourishment, and reconnection.

  • Solar-powered microgrids and rainwater systems modeling climate-resilient design.

This will be a home for Tribal leaders, movement partners, and global allies to come together, learn, dream, and design a future beyond extraction.

Regenerative Enterprise:
Commerce in Service of Justice

Sustainability means more than grants. It means building our own engines of power.

Through this campaign, IJT will acquire and scale businesses and transform them it into a social-benefit enterprise.

This business will serve as:

  • A mission-aligned revenue stream, with profits flowing directly into IJT’s programs, policy work, and regranting.

  • A platform for education and storytelling, sharing Indigenous history and climate justice narratives with every cup.

  • A model for regenerative business, demonstrating how commerce can serve land, culture, and community.

This acquisition anchors IJT’s long-term financial independence and models a future where Indigenous nations lead in governance and in enterprise.

POLICY & LEGISLATIVE LAB

Changing the Rules of the Game

Land and infrastructure are only part of the story. Power also lives in policy.

Our Legislative & Policy Lab will develop an Indigenous-centered policy and legislative tracker, equipping Tribal governments and grassroots movements with the tools they need to shape state, local, and federal law.

This lab will:

  • Track and analyze legislation on Indigenous lands and Frontline communities, waters, and rights.

  • Provide near real-time alerts, testimony templates, and policy briefs.

  • Train youth and leaders in legislative strategy.

  • Build coalitions to advocate for Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), cumulative impact assessments, and Indigenous sovereignty protections.

"It’s not enough to resist harmful policy, we must write the laws that shape our future."

ENDOWMENT & REGRANTING

Building Generational Power

True sovereignty requires time and stability.

Our $3 million endowment will generate a sustainable revenue stream for core staffing, maintenance, and programming, ensuring IJT’s mission endures beyond this campaign.

Our $1.5 million regranting fund will channel resources directly to grassroots Indigenous and allied climate justice projects. This fund will support local organizing, youth leadership, cultural revitalization, and legal advocacy, multiplying the campaign’s impact far beyond our walls.
